It's the
social event of every month and, in our opinion at least, the best
night in town . . . it's the Cortina Nights at The Assembly!
Every month, we and hundreds of others descend to
The Assembly for some Friday fun and frolics!
Since we first started going in April last year,
it has consistently been the best night. The atmosphere is always
friendly, due in no part to the age range of the monthly revellers.
Door policy is 21+, which helps to remove the majority of
drunken idiots that seem to blight the local nightlife, and is a
relatively cheap night out! All for a fiver, if you get a ticket,
otherwise £8 on the door. But
it is very advisable to get a ticket beforehand as it does get busy and
more often than not sells out! And adding to the fun, is
the retro night at The Avenue pub across the road, always jam-packed
whenever there's a Cortina Night too, so get there early!
But
the main reason we go is to relive the tunes from the 60's, 70's and
80's!
Inspired by the Cortina Nights, Residentclubber Daz has set up a
Facebook group to share his love of 80's music and the Cortina Night.
The group also features pictures we've taken from our nights out at The
Assembly, as well as other retro nights locally, such as Reflex in
Birmingham etc. So if you've seen us about and had your photo taken by
any of us, you can tag yourself!
