Back
in 2001, Residentclubber was initially just an idea for somewhere to
host pictures from nights out in Birmingham, and in particular
Godskitchen - way before social networking sites like MySpace and
Facebook were around. The first incarnation of the Residentclubber website
was originally hosted on various free websites like Yahoo Geocities,
but as the site started to grow,
it needed a much larger home.
And so
after a
couple of years enjoying the bright lights of the Birmingham nightlife,
it wasn't until September 2003 that the Residentclubber cameras were
out and about in Leamington Spa and the local profile of the
website
exploded as a result. Over time, the website has
expanded and now includes a multimedia section with videos of some of
the events we've attended and the now annual summer clubbing video
project, a selection of our club flyer and poster designs, an events
section from the events that we've hosted that have attracted the best
up and coming DJ's, and Residentclubber.co.uk creator, Andy Barbieri's
own DJ section.
In the
many years the website has been around, we've visited quite a few
venues and events, mostly based in Birmingham and Leamington. Most
memorable nights include; Godskitchen, Gatecrasher at the NEC, Hed
Kandi, Polysexual, Sundissential, Fuel, Global Gathering, Bounce and of
course, not forgetting dance music's spiritual home; Ibiza plus a whole
lot of smaller local nights in bars (including our own), which have
been just as good (sometimes even better) than some of the club nights
we've attended.
Although we're more focused on the photography and video side of things than putting on our own events these days, Residentclubber.co.uk will continue to be out there having fun where the good times are at!

"The message and spirit of a
website is created in no small part by the editor. Without any creative
control
you just get a mish-mash
with no overall style or direction. There are
photo galleries with the photos uploaded exactly as they come from the
camera, warts and all, visitors to Residentclubber.co.uk shouldn't have
to skip through the many near-duplicates, blurry photos, failed
experiments, and other dodgy photos.
With Residentclubber.co.uk, the part which takes the most time and care
is the editing of the photo galleries. Many decisions are made, based
on the criteria that we've developed over the years since the site
began, accepting some pictures whilst rejecting others.
And
equally important, is that the photos need to reflect the philosophy
for the site. Simply put, The week ends, life begins! It's what we
believe in."
Residentclubber.co.uk does NOT endorse, and
is NOT biased towards, any one particular venue or event - although the
site is generally supportive towards local events. We
just go where the good times are at!

Aside from the main focus of photography, Residentclubber.co.uk also gets involved with various multimedia projects such as graphic design and video.
Mostly
just projects working under the Residentclubber.co.uk name,
designs worked on include; club flyers and posters, short videos of the
events we sometimes attend such as Global Gathering and Ibiza, plus of
course, photographing events and nights out that go on
the main website.

"Back in 2002, we began to organise our own dance music events hosted in various venues throughout Leamington Spa, as we got fed up with hearing the same commercial and urban music in seemingly every bar every weekend. From this desire to offer something different to the local nightlife, Residentclubber.co.uk founder, Andy Barbieri got behind the decks and started to DJ, mostly as warm up to the many top quality guest DJ's we were getting in. The mindset for our events is always 'No Attitude, Just Damn Fine Tunes!' Nothing less will do.
Andy's DJ sound is upfront deep, tech house music with elements of soul, funk, disco, latin and jackin' beats. Relying on his tune selection to get the people dancing, and having DJ'd at most of the local Leamington Spa bars, including in the main room of two of the local clubs; Evolve and Smack, in that time, Andy has certainly done that! And as we're out every weekend photographing the local nightlife, you could say that we're well placed to know the local bar / clubbing scene as well and more than capable at DJing to different kinds crowds at different venues."
